Thou shalt ask for a second opinion
My phone's LCD screen decided to up and die on me on Thursday. I'd turned the phone on 'silent mode' when I went to class, and after class the thing seemed dead. Further examination revealed that it wasn't dead... only the screen was dead. No screen = no display = fake deadness.
The great thing about having two phones is that you're not in a bind when one dies. I switched my SIM card over, because most people tend to call me on my Celcom line. Unfortunately, I did have loads of numbers stored in phone memory, because I add in details like people's addresses or blog URLs or birthdays and stuff like that. So I 'lost' those numbers. And of course I couldn't use my Digi line. But apart from that... well, hey, better than nuthin' ;)
I decided to find out how much it would cost to get the phone fixed. The first store I went to quoted me RM80. I was like, "Cannot cheaper ah?" and the guy said, "Sorry la, very cheap already lo. This one colour screen, you know!" -_-"
I made a great decision. I called my housemate Sze Hui. "Eh darling ah, they quote me RM80 to fix the screen wor. What you think?"
She asked me to try another store which she'd patronised before. They'd given her a good price on her phone memory stick and had done a good job repairing her phone keypad. "I trust them more lo," she explained.
I got off the phone and told the guy, "Let me think about it" (standard Sunflower-speak for "No, thanks") and went over to the other store. They quoted me RM50. O.O I agreed ON THE SPOT! My gosh, so much difference wei!!
It took all of 30 mins and now I have a fully functioning phone again. Yeah babeh!! My housemates rock!!!
