First post of 2008... one week into the year

I have been a very bad blogger. I have not blogged for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!

You know, we always think it would be so nice not have to go to work, but I realised something: not going to work is not fun. It's fun if you're taking a few days off for a short break, but having a whole month with nothing to do makes you very directionless and purposeless. I got swallowed up by Second Life, spending all hours of the day and night on it, and didn't accomplish anything in December apart from terrorising people at shopping malls with my singing. (Christmas carolling, remember?)

Well, the new semester has started and I am taking 5 subjects, so I have to get off my butt and be productive. Which means that I should also be posting on the blog as usual. No more bumming around, nossir.

I'm so excited about all my classes that I couldn't figure out which one to drop -- I had initially planned to take only four, not five. I can't believe that I, the Wilful Sunflower, VOLUNTARILY want to take all these subjects ZOMG. How could dropping a subject possibly be this difficult? O the ironies of life...

Meanwhile, on the very first day of class, I drove to uni, parked, closed the car door... and the glass window dropped right in. As if I'd wound the window down, only I hadn't. I was like, what the--?

So I had to skip class and hightail it over to the mechanic. He showed me the part he took out of the door, and guess what? It's made of plastic. PLASTIC! The plastic piece had snapped. "Proton cars all like that," he said. "The Wajas especially always have this kind of problem." Way to go, Malaysia boleh!

15 minutes after my window was fixed, the heavens poured down kangaroos and giraffes. Thank God for small mercies, eh.

Before that, my car was in hospital for four days just before Christmas, and I was already starting to sing, "I'll be car-less for Christmas" (to the tune of "I'll Be Home For Christmas") but I got it back on Christmas eve. There was a leak in the circuit somewhere, causing problems with the battery and preventing the car from starting. So the mechanic had to do surgery in order to make a diagnosis. That cost me RM285. But at least everything works now!

Happy new year, everyone :)
