"Excuse me... do you have a blog?" I asked the guy sitting across the table from me at dinner.
"Yes... how did you know?"
"You took pictures of your food. That's blogger behaviour!"
Thus I got to know Isaac.
One of my main reasons for going to camp was to get to know more people in my church. I thought, Ha! They're all gathered in one place for three days and two nights. This is the best time to pounce and slowly weave a web around them till they're well and truly caught... and if they realise what's happening, there's nowhere to run to anyway! (Taiping very small, you know)
Oh, did I just give away my strategy? *evil grin* No, I'm innocent! Really! But, you know... the thought of having church members trapped with me for three days and two nights... how could I resist? Muahahahah. It would give me all the time I needed to savour -- err, I mean chat with them...
Seriously, the idea was to get to know some of them so that the next time I come to church, I won't feel all at sea in an ocean of strange faces. (Now to actually go to church...)
On the first day, we played this little game where everybody had a sheet of paper pinned to the back of their shirt and you were supposed to go around writing on people's sheets, saying something nice about them. I thought I'd hardly get anything on mine, since I'm fairly unknown in church (that is what happens when you don't go to church...).
But someone came right up to me and said, "Sunflower! I want to write on yours!" and after that a few others came. I got comments like "kind-hearted", "sweet", "joyful, loving and adorable", "dependable and always supportive", "nice smile", "passionate & loves God", "good friend", "you rock!", "hope to get to know you more". I was so touched...
