Blog under the microscope

I've been browsing a lot of Malaysian blogs lately, and you know what I discovered?

  1. Most blogs have lots and lots and LOTS of pictures.
  2. Many blogs are doing sponsored posts, Pay Per Post and other money-making stuff.

Suddenly I feel... inadequate in some way. You may have noticed: this blog hardly got any pictures wan!

Aiyo how can like that. Is this a real blog or not??

What to do, I keep forgetting to bring my camera along with me, and then so ma fan (bothersome) to download the pictures, resize, crop, sharpen, adjust colours, upload... (just thinking of all that makes me tired already)

Anyway, I also realised I don't read blogs with a lot of pictures. Why ah? Coz I feel like got no substance like that. Yes, I know lah this post also doesn't have a lot of substance :P

But I guess I'd rather read about people's lives than look at pictures of their lives. I always want to know what people are thinking or how they are feeling, rather than what they're actually doing. Your outer life can be very routine but there's always a richness in the inner life. It's what's inside a person that makes him or her different from everybody else.

As for blogging for money, it's a personal blog lah. It was never meant to make money in the first place. Putting ads -- Nuffnang, Advertlets, Google Adsense -- is one thing, coz that's like a "by the way" sort of gesture. But doing sponsored posts means actually writing ads, and to me that defeats the whole purpose of having a personal blog in the first place.

I have a personal blog so I can write about the things that are important to me, or the stuff I'm doing or thinking about. If I want to start a business blog where I showcase products and websites or write reviews and ads, I'll do that somewhere else.

So yeah, it's a real blog. My kind of real blog ;)
