Every girl needs housemates like these
What I love most about staying with girls is the girly stuff we do. Like how one of us will come home after a shopping spree and put on a 'fashion show' for the rest to show off what she's bought. And how we get to talk about guys. Hehehe.
Tonight we had a pow-wow trying to decide how to tell a guy you like him without telling him you like him. (Please reference this post.)
"Among us, whose birthday is next? We'll go somewhere to celebrate, and you can invite him along."
"Then he'll be the only guy around and it's going to look REALLY weird!"
"No lah! I can invite my boyfriend, Emmy can invite Sherman, Meera can invite her brother..."
"But why would he come if he doesn't know any of you?"
"Um, okay. How about having a barbeque in the house? We would have to clear up some of the stuff first, though."
"And barbeques are a lot of work."
Meera: "We could just buy pre-cooked Ayamas chicken and put it on a barbeque grill."
[everybody stares at Meera]
"May as well do a potluck then! What for want to do barbeque?"
"But why would he come in the first place if he doesn't know anyone else who's going to be here?"
"I know! What about going to watch a movie? You ask him to come and fetch you from the house..."
"But I have a car! Why would he need to fetch me?"
"Aiyah, hide the car in the back alley lah!"
Meera: "NO NO! CANNOT! YOU SHOULDN'T LIE!!!"
Sharon: "Just say you want to save on petrol or don't want to drive lah. If he won't come and fetch you, then you can cross him off the list straight away!"
"Wah, Sharon so strict wan..."
"You guys can go movie and we'll go too--"
"Yeah! We'll just happen to be sitting in the same row next to you guys--"
"No, no! Of course not in the same row lah! What lah you!"
"--and we'll like 'terserempak' after the movie..." (bump into each other)
"But that would mean both of us are would be going to the movie alone. I can't invite him to watch a movie with me alone!"
"Yeah hor. Right, we'll go in a group and then after the movie, we'll go mamak--" (supper)
"--and then you get into his car because you have to show him the way! Brilliant!"
Meera: "This is a MUCH better idea than having to lie."
"He doesn't know the way to the mamak meh?"
"You think he knows? He's not from around this area what."
"I don't know."
"And then you get the chance to leave something in his car. That gives you an excuse to call him the next day."
"Set! Now you must start SMS-ing him so that all this doesn't just come out of the blue."
"But what will I say?!"
"'Hi, how was your day at work? I'm thinking of you.'"
"No way! That's WAY too obvious!"
"I thought you WANTED to be obvious!"
"Yes, but not THAT obvious lah!"
What can I say? Girls.
