Theme songs

Watch the Transformers movie trailer and you realise there isn't even a hint that they've used the original Transformers theme song; not a good sign. I told my housemate Meera, and she began singing, "Transformers, robots in the sky." I was dead sure it was "Transformers, more than meets the eye". The ensuing debate got rather... heated. *grin*

Thank goodness for YouTube. I bring you The Transformers:

"So we were both right," remarked Meera.

"No, I was more right than you because your line only occurs once, whilst mine is repeated over and over!"

"HEY!"

...talking about theme songs, a friend was just remarking that the theme song for the new James Bond movie is utterly unmemorable. I said instead of tailoring the theme songs to the individual movie titles (think: Diamonds Are Forever), they should have ONE James Bond theme song, so that you hear it and it instantly conjures up images of 007. That's called good branding. I mean, look at Mission Impossible -- their theme song is damn distinctive. James Bond movies have been around since 1962, and nobody has thought of this yet?! The marketing guys really slipped up on this one.

You don't realise the power of the theme song until you hear an old song from a tv series that's no longer on air, and start to get all nostalgic. I don't think I'll ever forget MacGyver. Ah, good memories...
