Jehovah Jireh (The God Who Provides)

image from coolarchive.comI'm starting work tomorrow. Yes, I got a temp job! Yay! Thank you, God!! -- and thanks to a certain blog reader of mine... ;)

After I wrote about quitting my job and looking for a temp job, one of my blog readers called me up out of the blue and asked me if I would consider taking up a temporary job in a certain organisation (another NGO but not Christian-related). The organisation happens to be short-staffed at the moment and intends to hire new permanent staff, but in the meanwhile needs somebody to come in and fill the gap. This blog reader said he would pass my phone number on to the relevant people and have them call me.

Two days later I received a phone call. However, when I revealed that I was not able to commit for a specific period of time -- because I only intend to temp until I get a teaching position in one of the colleges, and I don't know when that will be -- both parties agreed that it was probably not very viable to hire me.

Also, I was a bit scared when told that the job description included "general admin work", because that sounds exactly like what I was doing in the job I've just quit! (Sherman, however, pointed out that this new job is more well-defined than my previous job, which required me to do everything because I was the sole employee.)

Well, yesterday I received another call, asking if I would consider coming in on a weekly basis. I figured it's kinda rare for a potential employer to call you twice and ask you to work with them, and that maybe I should sit up and take notice. Maybe that was God knocking on my door? So I agreed to start work on Wednesday (tomorrow).

You know what is interesting? They are hiring me sight unseen. No interview, no resumé, nothing but the recommendation of my blog reader...
