Planning ahead :P

wedding gownI stepped into a bridal gallery for the first time today. And pretended I was getting married.

No, no, I'm not that pathetic. Really! I was with Janelle, my best friend, whose wedding is in July next year. She needed to check out and compare prices for purchasing a bridal gown (she doesn't want to rent the gown), and I was accompanying her.

Since Janelle is Indian and I am Chinese... and since she only wanted a wedding gown, not any of the dinner gowns or photography packages... she was concerned that she might not get very good service at the various bridal houses. So she asked me to pretend I was getting married too. My wedding is supposedly in December next year. *grin*

There are about six or seven bridal galeries clustered around the area where I stay. I've always driven past them but never thought much about what might be inside. The array of gowns! I see now why Grace said it's a lot easier if you already have a design in mind before going to the bridal galleries.

Actually, I do have a vague design in my head, even though I'm nowhere near to getting married. (For one thing... no groom in sight!) But it's true what Monica said in Friends (the tv sitcom): women dream of the perfect wedding from the time they are small, "the perfect wedding... in the perfect place... with the perfect four-tiered wedding cake... with the little people on top", and, most importantly, the perfect guy too, of course.

Then one grows up and realises the shocking truth that perfection doesn't exist. Bummer ;)

When I was young I used to want to get married in one of those gowns with huge billowy skirts, and look like a princess. Now I think, good grief, those skirts are going to be a headache to manage, besides being very hot and heavy. If I ever do get married, I want to wear something simple, fuss-free, and relatively inexpensive. In fact, that goes for the whole wedding! Simple, fuss-free, and relatively inexpensive...
