When minor becomes major
Sometimes you try so hard but it doesn't work. And the one time it doesn't work is the time somebody takes it personally.
"I'm really disappointed in you as a friend."
"I've always been there to help you when you asked, and you couldn't even do this little thing for me."
"You don't have to lie, you know. If you didn't want to do it, you could have just said so."
Faced with three choices -- 1) stay silent, 2) try to explain (a.k.a. defend myself), 3) retort & pick holes in her accusations -- I chose to explain a little, and stay silent for the most part. I don't like to argue, and if that's the way she wants to see things... well... no amount of talking will help anyway.
But all of a sudden I am fed-up with all the unspoken expectations. Sadly, I am not any less disappointed in her than she is with me.
