The Wilful Sunflower

I took a day off from work today coz Blink was having his convocation ceremony, but then discovered his uni only allows two people to accompany him into the hall, and of course those two people would be Mom & Dad. So I ended up running personal errands instead, and then had dinner with the three of them when they got back from the uni (which is in the middle of nowhere ).

Blink was in long-sleeved shirt, slacks, tie, and a blazer. I've never ever seen him dressed so smartly, he who normally doesn't really care what he's wearing as long as they're clothes :P  In my most biased sisterly opinion, he looked very handsome -- and I'm sure his girlfriend agreed!

Can't believe that Blink has graduated and started working. My baby brother. The cute one with the kissable chubby cheeks. The naughty one whom I used to punish by pinching. The pesky one who tried to poke his nose into my business all the time. The active one who would always run off somewhere and cause Mom to send me after him. The fearless one who would always try things I didn't dare try, and get into trouble.

He's all grown up now. Every time I look at him, I'm amazed to see a sturdy young man in place of that small cute boy (he was so happy when he finally grew taller than me!!).

I'm listening to myself talk -- I mean, write -- and I guess I sound a bit like a mother. Blink is four years my junior and I was always very much the elder sister where he was concerned. I was infuriated that Mom wouldn't give me authority over him. He'd never listen to anything I said, which kinda but not really explains the pinching... *ouch*

Congratulations, Blink. I'm very proud of you and the young man you've become. Your passion for God, your integrity and your focus continually challenge me. Sometimes I'm a bit intimidated by you too! :P
