Above & beyond the call of duty
My housemate Sharon & I have finally gotten Streamyx (broadband) to work at home. Oh, the fact that it took so long wasn't TMNet (the ISP)'s fault. Surprise, surprise ;)
We applied with a Streamyx dealer, one of the shops in 1Utama Shopping Centre, less than a week before Sharon was to go back to her hometown for holiday. Sharon asked the guy at the shop whether it was possible to get everything fixed up before she left town.
He called TMNet to check with them, then said, "The TMNet contractors can't make it, so I'll come over and do it for you."
True to his word, he came over, helped us fix up the modem and install everything, but the Streamyx service hadn't been activated, so we still couldn't go online.
The next day, Streamyx was activated, one of TMNet's guys came over to make sure everything was in working order, and left. Sharon went out of town the day after that and was gone for two weeks.
But since the modem is downstairs and my PC is upstairs in my room, I couldn't get the signal without a wireless adaptor or by connecting to the modem by cable. And for all the time Sharon was gone, I was extremely busy at work, so I just left the whole broadband issue alone.
When Sharon came back, she discovered she couldn't access the broadband service for some reason. We went back to the shop yesterday so I could get a wireless adaptor, and Sharon asked the guy about this access problem.
After they closed shop at 10pm, the guy & his colleague came over to our house and helped us to tweak our computer settings & solved our difficulty, for free.
I tell you, I'm amazed at the service given by this shop, NxGen IT Resources, and their staff, Clarence. This is what I call going the extra mile! Sharon tried to offer Clarence a simple drink (no, not alcohol!) in return for his help and he refused.
If you are looking for somewhere that will give you good service, give NxGen IT Resources a try. After that experience I think I might just have become a very loyal customer!
