Glorious night
I have a flight to Penang, one of our northern states, tomorrow morning at 9am which means I have to be in the airport by 7am which means I have to leave the house by 6am which means I have to wake up at 5am. I haven't packed (will be there three days two nights for work), and it's now midnight, but first I have to write something about the Project Petaling Street birthday bash ;)
Yup, PPS, our Malaysian blog portal/directory thingy, turned two today and I've just come back from the Biggest Blog Meet Ever. About 80 bloggers signed up but I think even more turned up -- some appeared unannounced, like Loopy Meals, otherwise known as "the baby blog" :P
I'm really glad I've been going for smaller blog meets all along, so I knew different people from each of the various meets and wasn't so lost. I mean, it can be really overwhelming to meet 80 strangers at one go, you know? So for me it was mostly catching up with the people I already sort of know, getting the chance to chat with them again face-to-face after the all-too-brief meetings we've had in the past. I also got to meet, for the first time, a few people whose blogs I've been reading or are familiar with, like Erna, David (Itchy Hands) and Simon.
Things I did at the bash:
- Embarrassed myself. TWICE. By asking after the person's partner, when the couple in question had already parted ways. Oops.

- Told Kenny Sia that he looked "broader" in real life than he does in his photos.
- Hugged Fip -- and got Lainie playfully wagging her brows at me for putting my hands on her girlfriend.
- Asked Leona whether I really do look like Blink's twin. She said it was only in that particular photo. *phew*
- Had Ben ask me, "You hardly ping PPS, do you?" I said I don't, because so much of the stuff I write here has a strong Christian bent, and I figured most people wouldn't be interested. He replied, "I don't think it's so Christian... you write a lot about life," or something to that effect.
- Finally met the mysterious and amazing TV Smith. (Believe it or not, that's his real name!)
- Tapped Shaolin Tiger on the shoulder and, when he turned, stuck my hand out at him and said, "I just want to be able to say that I met Shaolin Tiger."
- Gushed over Minishorts' T-shirt, which had her (nick)name emblazoned across the front. So cool!!
- Promised TigerJoe that if he organises a trip to the bird park, I will certainly go.
- Got personally spoon-fed by Yee Pei, like a baby. (Okay, so it was only one spoonful of salmon!)
- Flattered Silencer by rattling off his full URL to someone else, I forget who now. Yes, I remember people's URLs and usually type them directly into the browser address bar instead of clicking from my list of links or choosing from my bookmarked sites ;)
- Put poor SK on the spot by chiding him for not sending me photos of the MidValley Megamall blogmeet two weeks ago.
- Freaked Simon out by standing across from his table while craning my neck and staring down intently at his T-shirt for more than 10 seconds. It wasn't my fault, he'd written his name in such tiny letters on his name tag, I could hardly read it without a magnifying glass! I'd been looking out for him so I'd been trying to see whether his tag really did say "Simon"...
- Frightened Jaime by excitedly exclaiming over her brand-new blog the instant I set eyes on her. She had that "Oh my God this woman is reading my blog?!?!" look in her eyes :P
