Flabbergasted

My housemate Adeline was reading Chicken Soup for the Girlfriend's Soul last night when she suddenly came over to where I was sitting and pointed out a paragraph to me. It was a quotation from some woman called Doris W. Helmering:

A friend drops their plans when you're in trouble, shares joy in your accomplishments, feels sad when you're in pain. A friend encourages your dreams and offers advice -- but when you don't follow it, they still respect and love you.

"That's so you," Adeline said. "That's what you're like as a friend."

I'm still speechless.
