Boooooorrrrrriiiiing...
Chinese New Year was excruciatingly boring this year. So much so that after only four days at home, I was desperate to 'escape'!
It wasn't anything my parents said or did, in fact this time they didn't even make any barbed comments about my weight -- it was just that there was nothing to do. I brought some books home to read but I read until my eyes felt like they were gonna drop out. I couldn't surf the Internet coz we STILL don't have Internet access (I keep telling Mom & Dad that they're living in the Stone Age... now you know why this blog has been so quiet. Then again, if Dad ever gets to this blog, I am so sunk!!). And there was nothing worth watching on TV. Of course, we don't have cable so I only had five channels to choose from, but five has always seemed adequate before.
Plus the heat was extremely enervating, so that made things worse. It was so hot that I didn't want to do anything. Heck, just sitting down with a book made me perspire like nobody's business. I ended up hiding in the study room most of the time coz that's the only room in the house with air-conditioning (not counting my parents' bedroom, which is sort of off-limits. Bedrooms are private).
If I hadn't been careful, I'd have ended up eating endless cookies and tit-bits just coz there was nothing else to do. Blink guzzled down endless cans of cold soft drinks but I didn't want that much sugar floating around in my system -- not to mention turning to fat -- so I kept tabs on my soda intake.
I drove home on Monday (Feb 7) and by Thursday, I was saying, "I wanna go back to KL!"
Mom said, "You're on leave until Tuesday, why go back so fast?"
"I've got nothing to do here!" I wailed. Thank God she didn't make me clean windows or change the curtains just to find me something to do. Then again, those are things people do before Chinese New Year ;)
Blink wanted to stay till Friday coz there was a church Youth Group "alumni" reunion on Friday night. So we stayed, but Saturday he & I "ran away" from home and got back here. Then I basically just lazed around till I came back to work today. More later... :)
