Save me from quack doctors

"Maybe you should get married to regulate your cycle," the grey-haired male doc said. What kind of stupid medical advice is that? Since when does marital status have anything to do with my bloody hormonal cycle? (I'm not swearing; it really IS bloody. Ask any woman if you don't believe me.)

It's bad enough that my body is going haywire on me and thoroughly misbehaving. And then to have some chauvinistic old fart suggest I should get married JUST to regulate my cycle... don't worry, this post is not gonna go into the Too Much Information zone. I just need to rant a bit.

In the old days, you went to a clinic and you knew which doctor you'd be seeing because he was the only one there. Now you have medical chains like Medijaya who have locums and goodness knows what else and it's never the same doctor from one week to the next. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but the fact is, I never know whether my regular doctor is in when I go to the clinic to see her.

And when she's not in, I have to explain my medical history all over again to put the new doc in the picture. Then the new doc, who is obviously of the "old school" that believes it's unnatural for a healthy 26-year-old woman to be unmarried -- not only that, who has also allowed his unreasonable prejudice to mangle his brain -- has to get in a dig about my marital status. What gives??

I don't even trust his prescription. As far as I know, if you are gonna take hormone pills (including oral contraceptives) for medical reasons, you have to take an entire course, not just 5 days' worth. You can bet I'm gonna call Dad up and get some medical advice I can trust. Humph.
