Glass pass

I've finally figured out why God gave us two eyes. It's coz we need both of them!! (Like, duh...)

See, last night when I went to sleep I put my glasses next to my mattress as usual, like countless other nights in the past, and when I woke up this morning they were squashed out of shape. Don't ask me what happened, coz I dunno.

Since the alignment's out, I can't wear 'em and open both eyes, coz it disorientates me and makes me dizzy and might give me headaches. At first I thought I'd drive to work with one eye closed, but quickly figured out that that might be more dangerous than not wearing the glasses at all. (I had problems backing out of the driveway gate, you see. And anyway, having to keep one eye closed all the time is pretty tiring.) In the end I drove to work without my glasses, slipping them on -- and closing one eye -- when I needed to switch lanes or turn at junctions. Just as well that I drive this route every day so I know it like the back of my hand. Plus, good thing I only live 10 minutes away from the office. If I'd had to drive downtown I'd have cried.

I'm really terribly short-sighted -- 950 in my right eye and 900 in my left, with high astigmatism too -- I which means I could see huge moving shapes which I knew were cars, but otherwise couldn't make out much about said cars. When I got to the office (thankfully without incident) I got into the elevator. Was standing next to the buttons, and couldn't read the numbers on the buttons without bending down and putting my eyes an inch away from the darn things. Good grief.

(If you're wondering, I HAD to go to the office coz I was having internal training today, and it was a compulsory course on Media Law. Felt like I was back in university for a moment there.)

This morning I was looking high and low for my last pair of glasses, the one I used to wear before my last checkup & change years ago. Couldn't find 'em. Do you ever feel like you're floating from one crisis to the next? I can't afford to make new glasses till tomorrow, assuming that our pay gets banked in tomorrow. Arrrrrgh. I hereby designate today "Blind As A Bat Day".
