3 bloggers & a baby

On Sunday afternoon, Ariel, Jotay and yours truly (pic: left to right) earned our bragging rights. We became the first bloggers ever to cuddle the famous baby Jesse.
I swear, probably about half of the Malaysian blogosphere has been following James' blog for months, waiting with bated breath for his wee son to make his way into the world. Some of us felt just as excited as if we were the parents! I, of course, was one of those :)
So I told James that when Mae (his wife) had given birth, I was definitely going to find a way to visit them -- by hook or by crook. Besides, James is from the same church as me and I knew that Ariel & Jotay both know him personally. "I will get Ariel to bring me," I warned him. And I did, and lo and behold, there I was in Mae & James' home!
"Do you want to hold the baby?" asked the confinement lady who's helping Mae take care of baby Jesse. "Oh no," I quickly said to her in Cantonese, "I don't dare!" After all, newborn babies are so fragile. But James said, "Go ahead -- as long as you support his head, there'll be no problem," and deftly transferred baby Jesse into my arms. As I looked down into his precious little face, I felt my heart melt and I promptly fell in love...

And as I cradled him close, he fell asleep in my arms. I felt so rich suddenly, as if I were holding all the greatest treasures of the earth right there in that little bundle of brand-new humanity. What a tiny miracle, unknowingly holding so many hearts in the palm of his hand...
