Domesticity
Yesterday Lady Snoflek and I visited friends, a couple who've just had their first child. (No, not Loopy Meals, lol!) It was our first time in their home ever since their marriage two years ago.
We stepped foot into a scene of cosy domesticity. A lovely welcoming home, furnished with an artistic touch; soothing music playing in the background; and the strong sense of family.
I think I was surprised coz I recently visited a newly-married friend & her husband, and their house didn't have the same "finished" look. You could tell they were newlyweds on a budget, because the house wasn't yet fully furnished and lacked several key items, including a sofa (couch).
But with this other couple -- they too had minimal stuff, but what they had worked well together. They've been married two years, so I shouldn't really compare them with my newlywed friends, I suppose. Still, the whole thing was a bit of a shock, coz the whole atmosphere whispered of "family". And the both of them looked so... so... so domesticated, what with a new baby and a maid to help care for the little one.
Lady Snoflek and I left feeling completely, utterly, indisputably SINGLE. Like our lives & lifestyles are now light-years apart from this couple's. Arrrgh.
