Traditionless
Since everybody is posting about Christmas shopping, and Christmas traditions, I decided that I'd better feel sorry for myself on my own blog so that I won't need to repeat myself on every blog I visit. *grin*
Dan Johnson recently asked what the going rate for a tooth is these days. Apparently he and his wife had different ideas of the Tooth Fairy's, err, "compensation scheme". Heheh.
I'd never even heard of the Tooth Fairy until I read about her in storybooks, and somehow knew she didn't exist. If I'd ever made the mistake of thinking she did exist, my parents would have wasted no time in putting me straight.
And that's my parents for you. Our Christmas tradition is to not have a Christmas tradition. I don't think it was a conscious thing. It's just that they don't buy into all this fairy-tale, dreamy, atmosphere-y, sentimental stuff.
Have I ever said that my parents are very practical?
No gift-giving, no Christmas tree, no Christmas decorations, no traditional Christmas dinner, DEFINITELY no Santa Claus — at least I totally agree with that one — and... well, no nothing... *sniff sniff* (that's me feeling sorry for myself, in case you didn't know)
So everybody around me is "getting into the Christmas spirit" and I'm having a hard time even remembering that Christmas is approaching. I feel cheated! Somebody must pay!!!
(Preferably cash... but I'll take cheques too. :P)
