Off to camp!

Am going off to a camp for Christian young graduates, organised by iBridge, the young graduates' group under the Malaysian Graduates Christian Fellowship. It's from Friday to Sunday in Fraser's Hill (Friday is a public holiday due to Deepavali, a Hindu festival).

I was part of the camp organising committee. It happened like this:

"You're a journalist, right? You can write emails and get people to come to the camp! We'll put you in Publicity!"

I was like, "Waitaminit! It doesn't work like that!" — but I was too late... *grin*

So yeah, I wrote a few emails. Then the transport sub-committee tried organising all 127 campers into car-pools and got a huge headache, so I volunteered to help them out. Ended up calling a lot of strangers to make sure they knew who their passengers were and had made arrangements for picking up said passengers. Hmmm... now I'm wondering what the guys look like. heheheh.

The campers will split into two groups for talk sessions. The younger group will be dealing with issues concerning transitioning from student life to working life; things like changing community (less time to hang out with friends, having to hang out with colleagues whom you do not get to pick & choose!), changing lifestyle (more money, etc.) and so on. The older group will be dealing with issues concerning vocation and work, the idea being that having worked for more than four years they are now wondering, "Is this all there is to life? What am I really doing here?" kinda thing.

We originally had three speakers, but one pulled out two weeks before the camp. However, another agreed to take over that session so all is well. The third speaker's ailing father passed away last week, so he is still grieving but he has told us to "be prepared for a special time", adding that God must have a purpose in all of this. I am blessed by his spirit of faith and trust in the love of God and his willingness to go on despite the timing. I'd really appreciate it if you could keep him, and the other speakers as well as the campers, in your prayers. Thanks :)

In other news, I've taken tomorrow off from work, as well as Mon & Tue, so I'm going incommunicado. See ya on Wed, or later.
