News from the hometown

I'm back in my hometown, at the Internet cafe, and I'm dying by inches...

OK so I'm exaggerating. As long as I can get on the Net, I shouldn't complain, should I? Even if the spacebar doesn't workand IE keeps onperforming illegaloperations and shutting down myemail? ;)

Several people called me at midnight to convey birthday wishes. Unfortunately, I'd slept early - I seem to have caught some sort of bug again and I'm sniffling, coughing and aching all over :(

Mom and dad ordered a cheesecake from one of the bakeries and actually managed to mix up the dates, so we collected the cake yesterday instead of today. Then we went to Ipoh, a city one-and-a-half hours' drive away, to visit my maternal grandma, on Mom's insistence.

"Cut a slice of cake and bring it for your Grandma," Mom said.

"What?! You haven't even sung 'happy birthday' to me! I haven't the blown candles out! How can I cut the cake?!" I exclaimed.

When I told Janelle, she laughed: "You just don't want to share your cake, that's all."

"Hey, it's a cheesecake. Of course I'd guard it with my life!" I told her. Cheesecake is not to be taken lightly, my dears. It is to be savoured bite by delicate bite... ahhh... mmm.... yum-yum-yum... :D

More later - this particular cybercafe is not conducive to blogging. Unfortunately, my favourite Internet cafe seems to have disappeared. I'm disconsolate!
