Watch those words

It wasn't until I read some blogs this morning that I realised yesterday was Father's Day. *smacks forehead*

Where is my BRAIN??!?

So I called home tonight and gave Dad belated Father's Day wishes.

Notice I didn't say I wished him a belated Father's Day. Nooooo. That's coz the last time Blink wished Dad a belated happy birthday, he got this humongous lecture from Dad. It had something to do with the fact that your birthday cannot ever be "belated" because it's on a fixed day and it doesn't move around. Only the wishes can be belated.

That's my dad for you!

Which means that every time we talk to him, we've gotta be really careful. When I was back a few weeks ago, I mentioned that I'd seen some green stuff inside my car radiator the last time I checked its water level. I think I said something like, "Dad, I saw something green in my radiator - do you think it could be algae?"

He looked at me like I'd lost my mind.

Of course, if I'd been thinking, I'd have realised algae could NEVER grow in my radiator, simply because they'd be fried whenever the engine starts. But you see, I just saw something green, and, um, well, jumped to conclusions. *sheepish look*

Dad had a great time reminding me of my wonderful logic over the next few days. :D

UPDATE: I was editing old entries (slotting them into categories) and came across this one, where I said I'd bought a car bumper sticker that says, "I'm laying my treasures up in heaven... just look at my car!"

I thought it was funny and different. Then Dad asked, "What does heaven have to do with your car?" and I realised, hey, this bumper sticker doesn't make sense. It's not logical.

Ever after, each time I looked at the thing, the illogicalness (I doubt there's such a word, but after all, it's MY blog :P) of it irritated me. In the end I took it down.
