Daily~Biscuit: Illness
I was going to blog about something else, but I'm trying to hold down my popcorn, so in due deference to my queasy stomach, Owen's Daily~Biscuit is highly appropriate.
When cold and flu strikes what do you tend to do...
I don't consider cold or 'flu so severe as to warrant bed rest. My nose might be running but my brain's still working and the rest of my body is fine (apart from the fact that every joint aches). I feel like a fraud if I just lie down and do nothing.
Yup, something like that!
It won't come to that. Now that I'm working, my company offers medical benefits: it has agreements with several clinics/hospitals around, and if I'm ill, I see those docs, they treat me and authorise my medical leave, and the company pays the bill. So if the cold gets really bad, that's what will happen. Dad being a doctor means I have a healthy trust in modern medicine ;)Bonus questions:
Discomfort drives me to God; my first thought is to pray for healing. But I've never prayed to know His purpose in the illness. I never thought He might have a purpose in allowing me to catch the common cold - it seemed just like one of those things. You know... life! *grin*
I suppose it's not God-honouring to work yourself till you drop... the whole "your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit" kind of thing. But as long as I turn to God and ask Him for help, it shows I know He's my Source, my Healer and my Strength - I guess He's pleased that I'm not just trying to go it alone. And now I will explain: I went for a movie this morning (Bringing Down The House, starring Steve Martin and Queen Latifah), and I think the popcorn did me in. My stomach's a bit queasy and I'm sitting here with a cushion wedged between my stomach and the PC table. Bear in mind that I'm in the office. Dignity schmignity - comfort is more important right now!
