SARS update
Update from Friday's post.
From the World Health Organisation:
- WHO infectious disease specialist, Dr Carlo Urbani, the first WHO officer to identify the outbreak of this new disease and treat the earliest cases in Hanoi, died of SARS today [Mar 29] in Thailand...
This brings the death toll to 54 worldwide.
Here is a chart detailing the total number of SARS cases and deaths by country so far (from Nov 1, 2002 to Mar 29, 2003). Singapore has seen a rise from 74 to 89 cases, but so far only 2 deaths, including that of Pastor Simon Loh, who died last Thursday.
Malaysia remains clear of the mysterious illness.
