Grandma ill
One of my uncles called me out of the blue tonight, asking for my dad's mobile phone number. "Grandma had a heart attack, you know. It's pretty serious, she's in hospital."
I got the shock of my life.
Called Mom, who told me Dad was around when it happened (my grandma stays in a city that's one-and-a-half hours' drive from home, but she'd been around coz Dad wanted to do some check-ups on her health). Apparently when my grandma - who's Mom's mom - had the attack, she lost her pulse for awhile and Dad had to resuscitate her.
She's in hospital and very weak, but Mom reported that my grandma spoke calmly about dying and seems prepared to go. She has been telling Mom where she hid all her important stuff!
I asked if I should go back, but Mom said there's no point, as there's nothing we can do anyway. She said my grandma's life is in God's hands. (My grandma is a Christian, praise God!)
It's especially shocking because she was to have an 80th birthday celebration dinner on Sat night. I was going to drive up for the dinner, and since I was going north anyway I applied for leave so that I could spend some time at home. I won't be around from Thursday to Tuesday, by the way.
The GOOD part (who was it who said every cloud has a silver lining?) is that one of my uncles, who lives in France, is in the country right now. He was the only sibling who had yet to receive Christ as his Lord and Saviour... well, he recently gave his life to Jesus and he was back here not just to celebrate my grandma's birthday, but to be baptised! He was baptised two days ago in my grandmother's church.
So at least he's around right now, and at least my grandma got to see him baptised after so many years of praying for him. (He'll be 40 this year.)
I'm in shock - rather numb. I'm not really close to my grandma, although we do visit her fairly often and spend time with her. Don't know if it will all hit me later. But anyway... she may not live long. Apparently her condition is quite critical and all my uncles (Mom has 3 brothers) have been summoned to her side.
Blink, my brother, is having exams in uni right now. He and my cousin were not planning to attend the birthday dinner because they have a paper on Saturday morning itself. Mom said not to disturb him with the news.
If you would, please just pray for peace and comfort and that God's will be done. Thanks so much.
