Creative urges

Something in Sainteros's latest offering struck me today.

In a list of resolutions, two stood out:

  • Express my creativity without concern for convention
  • Do something visual and something musical
I致e been going a bit mad lately. I passed a sort of bazaar the other day and bought a whole bunch of small artificial flowers made from cloth. They weren't even of good quality; some of the flowers were "deformed" and they were actually nothing more than a five-petal cloth cut-out fitted at the end of a green plastic limb.

But I bought them because I saw some potential use for them. (Of course, it helped that they were cheap. heheh)

I looked at those flowers and the thought immediately jumped to mind: I can use them to make cards! Same thing happened when I saw some gift-wrapping paper in Carrefour a few days ago. "This is cool, I can use these pictures on my cards!" I bought about 10 sheets with different designs. Told you I'd gone a bit mad, didn't I?

Card-making is something I enjoy. Creating a thing of beauty gives me a great deal of satisfaction, even if it is time-consuming. I like trying out new things, planning new card designs and making something out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately, I hardly have time for it. Occasionally I go slightly mad and buy materials, tools or what-not for my card-making activities, then those things get stored away. I have ribbons, craft scissors, all kinds of papers in all kinds of colours with all kinds of patterns...

I would like to spend more time expressing my creativity (what creativity I have, anyway). I don't know whether things will change when I go to the new place on Jan 12. Courtesy of Bob and his wife, I now have a massive 6-foot-wide desk I didn't have a desk before this, if you're wondering. So I'll now have a place for my craft projects, providing I don't end up burying the desk under piles of paper as I have every other desk I've ever come into contact with...!
