Food poisoning!

Yesterday I had the most horrible case of food poisoning and had to take the day off. I woke up with excruciating stomach pains and stumbled into the bathroom. It was so bad that I thought I would never get out of there; my hands started tingling as a prelude to numbness, my head began to swim and my vision was fading out. I figured I was about to faint. "How like a movie," I told myself. "If I black out, no one is going to know!"

After I managed to crawl out of the bathroom, I called my senior at work. "What's the procedure to apply for medical leave?" I asked weakly. Of course she said I have to be certified by one of the company's doctors. "I really don't think I can drive!" I moaned. She said, "You don't need to go now, you can always go later in the afternoon once your stomach has settled down a bit more." Oh. OK.

Then I called Janelle, who told me to eat some plain toast and drink lots of water. "I think I only have half a 1.5 litre bottle of water in my room. And I don't have any bread," I replied. (Yes, I am pathetic when I am sick!) She drove over with a loaf of bread and a bottle of water and proceeded to scold me. "How can you not have bread or water in your house?!" I can't think of any reason why I would keep any bread around. It would grow mould before I could finish eating the whole loaf!

I spent the rest of the day recuperating and resting in Alpha and Adeline's home (the couple who pastors Soulcare). Thank God for them! Today, I feel ready to face the rest of the world again... *grin*
