The greedy cassette player

Let's have some comic relief in this here blog!

My car's cassette player decided that it was tired of letting all that nice brown tape just pass it by, and decided to take a bite out of my cassette. The greedy little thing didn't realise that he was biting off more than he could chew, so of course now he's got lockjaw and the tape is stuck in between his teeth. This has been such a horrendous week, I just thank God that water didn't seep into my car – we've been having the most terrific tropical storms over here – and that my car's engine didn't break down for any reason. I don't think I could have handled that!

So I was sitting there with the unravelled tape all over my gearstick and handbrake, and the cassette sticking out of the jaws of Mr Greedy Cassette Player. What do I do? I call my guy friends, of course! Guys and cars and guys and sound systems... can't separate 'em! LOL

I was going to replace the entire cassette player, but then I was told I should think of putting in a CD player instead. "But then I won't be able to play my cassettes anymore," was my chief objection. (You have to admit, it makes sense!) Apparently cassette players malfunction all the time – or so my guy friends would have me believe. "It'll keep on eating up your cassettes. Besides, CDs have better clarity of sound," intoned one of them. Not like it would make a lot of difference in my little 660cc car!

I'm still thinking about it. Next month I have to get my car insurance extended for another 6 months and renew my road tax for another year. I'll have to see what the budget permits. In the meantime, I'm trying to stop the tape from carrying on a love affair with my gearstick.
