Old scribblings discovered!

Yesterday I said that I didn’t have any of my childhood scribblings with me at the moment. I was mistaken – this morning as I was clearing out my desk, I discovered a file buried under the mountains of papers. (oops… I think I wasn’t supposed to admit that!) It’s quite annoying when I discover I’m not as organised as I’d like to think I am. *grin*

So let me post a poem to rival Mark’s… hehehee. This was written when I was 12:

Jesus and Me

Jesus loves me, with me He’ll stay
Through the darkness of night and the light of day.
Jesus walks by my side always,
Wherever I go, every single place.
Jesus sends His angels aplenty
To stay by my side and to guide me.
Jesus protects me, I know;
He guards me from every dangerous foe.
Jesus knows my heart deep down,
He uses His hand to wipe away my frown.
Jesus cares about how I feel,
He listens to me as I kneel.
Jesus understands and doesn’t chide
He doesn’t simply skin my hide.
Jesus is gentle, and He won’t yell
To Him my every thought I can tell.
Jesus holds me when I’m sad
He comforts me and makes me glad.
Jesus’ arms are open wide
When I’m afraid, in them I’ll hide.
Jesus listens when I confide in Him,
He keeps my secrets and I trust Him.
Jesus loves me, the Bible says so;
And the Bible is God’s Word that can never grow old.

And for good measure, here’s a funny one:

Ups and Downs

We all have our ups and downs
In our own way we’re all serious clowns.
There are episodes we wish we could forget
But it just can’t be done – wanna bet?
’Twould be nice if the floor would cooperate
And turn into quicksand before it’s too late
Though it’s very fortunate that that doesn’t happen –
Who wants to disappear just before a celebration?
And though everything went wrong today –
(The cake didn’t rise and the biscuits were like clay) –
You know that Someone was there with you
’Coz He said, “I’ll see you through.”
He’s around, too, when you’re full of joy
Even when you’re admiring your brand-new toy
For Jesus sticks with you through thick and thin
There is no friend who’s quite like Him!
