God makes dreams come true
Doing some cloak-and-dagger stuff in the office - avoiding 3 different bosses! Not easy to do. Luckily they're all on the 4th floor, so I popped up to 5th floor and have been "hiding" since morning. The Big Boss knows I'm here - he messaged me on the internal messaging system, and I replied. The others, well...
I owe all of them stories. Feel very bad lah... Big Boss just checked the worklist and said I haven't submitted a single thing in the whole month of June! Where does the time go? To doing all sorts of other stuff. I really have to be more disciplined. REALLY!!
Dad called on Saturday night. He hardly ever calls - usually Mom's the one who calls me every week. He started off by asking me about my finances. I thought, "Oh no, not another lecture!" He was asking me how much money I've saved so far (practically zilch) and I thought he was going to be upset with me as usual... and then suddenly he said, "So if I give you a car, how are you going to 'feed' your baby??!" I was like, "What?????"
He said, "It's a 6-year-old Kancil, manual transmission, metallic blue colour. Do you want it??" I was flabbergasted! I nearly had a heart attack. I couldn't believe my ears! I'm still in shock even now - and grinning from ear to ear... Oh, God is good!!!!!!!!!!
What an amazing answer to prayer!!!! If you know Dad, he is not a person who pampers his kids. Dad's a strict disciplinarian who doesn't look very kindly on human failings. (That's why he's so upset that I haven't been saving money. He's the most disciplined person I know, and in the family, I am the one who struggles the most with being discipined!) When I graduated, he said that his "duty" to me was over (ie. his responsibility in providing for my education) and that I was now going to be on my own. I HAVE told him how difficult I found it to be without wheels, but he seemed singularly unimpressed... and the thought of him getting me a car, well, it was always like, "Yeah right! In my dreams!!"
But God makes dreams come true... Yeah!!! I could dance round the block right now!!!!!!!
I don't know when I'm getting it... Mom and Dad will probably drive it down one weekend. I was in shock - and after dropping his bombshell, he went back to telling me to save money, so I was half-embarrassed (over the money issue) and half-excited!!!
All long, I've been thanking God off and on for the car He was going to give me, but I never in a million years expected it to come from Dad, of all people!!!!!! My stern, disciplinarian, butter-wouldn't-melt-in-his mouth dad!!!!!
When I told Chris, Chris said something really profound. "There's proof that your dad really loves you and listens to your problems. I wonder how long he has been keeping an eye out for your car? ;P" Wow! That never even occurred to me, that my car (or need of it) could have been preying on Dad's mind for awhile. If that is true... wow. Wow!!!!!
