When you wish you could sink into the floor

Hmmm. Haven't been writing for a while. Lots to tell every day, but just no time!!! :)

More drama in the life of Sunflower the Q:

Boss called me in on Wednesday evening and assigned me to go for some Louis Vuitton function in Singapore July 11-12.

I don't have a passport.

He told me to go apply for one pronto - the next morning.

I don't have money. *grin* (salary not in yet)

So I had a little "pow-wow" with this colleague I get along really well with. (hmm... awkward sentence. Never mind! *laughs*) He's just a little newer to the company than I.

He said, "You have to tell the Boss."
I said, "I can't! It's so embarrassing to admit I don't have money!"
He said, "You have to tell him anyway - you can't go! You don't have a passport!"
Hmm, good point! (D'oh...)

So I went to see the boss. I think my face was red!

"Err... Boss... I don't have money to make a passport."
He looked at me. "So what do you want me to do?"
"Can't you send someone else?" I asked.
"Not that I can't, but we take turns to go on these junkets... and eventually you'll need a passport anyway. You want a loan?"
I nearly sank into the floor, I was SO embarrassed!
"I'm serious, you know," he said, taking out his wallet. "Here, I'll lend you RM400, go get it done tomorrow."

Guess what was the next thing I said?

"Um... where's the Immigration Office?"!!!!!

He rolled his eyes. He must be thinking I'm one hopeless journalist! I could just see it: "What did I ever do to deserve staff like this..." LOL!

I called home that night and sort of asked my mom to bail me out.
"OK, I'll send you the money, and I'll let Dad know," she said.
"But Dad will kill me!" I wailed. (He's been telling me to save money ever since I was in secondary school!)
"You expect me to keep it a secret from him?!" she asked.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear... and then I got a lecture from Mom about managing my money. Sigh...

That was a HORRIBLY embarrassing day.

The same day, I went all the way to UKM's KL campus (behind GH) only to have the prof cancel the interview, so I had to go all the way back to PJ. Wasted ten bucks for the taxi fare!! Fortunately I caught a ride from the photographer back to the office.

On a side note: I was VERY impressed with the Immigration's efficiency. Three days to get an international passport! NOW you're talkin'!!!!! :D
