Godly counsel
It's been another long day. I got a mail from Terence in response to what Chris had said about the fake ad. Prov 15:22 says, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Well, in this case, the plans have already been carried out, but it's always good to get advice. ;)
"I don't think what you wrote as (fake ID) was harmful," Terence wrote. "If anything, it served to put your mind at rest that this guy isn't on the level. It did put your mind at rest, right? But, IF you continue to 'play with his feelings' as Chris puts it, even with the knowledge that he is what he is, THEN that would be uncalled for. What you did, Sunflower, wasn't fraudulent; it was being cautious, in my opinion."
He continued, "Having said that, if the reason you did it was to put your mind at rest and satisfy your curiosity, I'd say that's fine. 'Cunning as serpents, gentle as doves', remember? However, if what you did was so that you could have the 'feel good' feeling that some guy out there is interested in you and you have the 'luxury' of turning him away, then that is wrong. In other words, if your actions were objective, fine. If your actions were for self-gain/recognition, EKKKK! Big no-no. David took the show bread from the altar to eat while the priests were wagging their fingers going 'tsk tsk tsk' at him. He did that cos he and his men were hungry. Was God angry with him? Nope. Cos God is a practical God. You did what you had to, cos you wanted to know. Don't let doubt cloud your mind or feelings. Or let people judge your actions as anything else."
I felt much better after reading his mail :)
Nothing much else. Wrote long exposition about baptism in the Holy Spirit in response to one of the posts on the board. Planned to leave office early to go spend some time with God, but obviously it didn't happen. I feel guilty about leaving early when I know my work is not finished. Consciences can be such bothersome things! *grin* Surfed the Net for more interesting things to put on my website. (Which made me feel guiltier. *sigh*)
